Financial Services firms we admire
Financial Services firms we admire
As discussed in Chapter 24, the following is a list of some of the financial services firms that I have admired over the years because they do one or several of the things we have talked about in the book. Each one has an approach to business that is customer-centric and sustainable.
The firms highlighted in this chapter are merely a tiny subset of the myriad firms that, in my humble opinion, ‘get it’. This chapter could be a book in its own right and the small sample below will undoubtedly grow over time. If you work for a firm that you believe should be featured here, send us an email and tell us why.
Click on each logo below for a precis of each firm and details of why they made the list.
Wellington Management Company is a $1+ Trillion active fund manager whose culture impressed me so much that I mention them in almost every leadership and culture workshop and webinar I deliver.
Vanguard is a $7 Trillion fund manager famed for keeping costs as low as possible. Its founder, Jack Bogle, is the father of passive investment, inventing the index fund to ‘democratize investment’.
BlackRock is the world’s largest asset manager with c$9 Trillion AUM. It has a genuine commitment to the principle of ‘investment stewardship’ – working to improve the way that listed companies are run by directly engaging with their leadership teams.
Fisher Investments is a global active fund manager with assets under management approaching $200bn, an impressive track record, a global outlook and a straightforward fee structure. They keep it simple and their service is exemplary.
Legal & General is not only one of the world’s largest international insurer and investment firm with more than $1.5 Trillion AUM and more than 10 million customers, they are determined to build a better society for Second Halfers.
Aviva is a major international general insurer, life insurer, pensions provider, asset manager and institutional investor with more than 30 million customers worldwide and AUM of c£500bn. But what impressed me the most is that they invest in their Second Half employees.
Money Honey Financial Planning is an award-winning UK IFA whom I trust completely because I have known the principal and founder, Jane Hodges, for almost 20 years. And the secret to successful financial planning is to employ the adviser you trust.
The deVere Group is an internal financial advice firm with 80,000+ clients in over 100 countries, specialising in servicing the complex needs of the expat community. I came across them when I was in Abu Dhabi and they impressed me with their professionalism and expertise.
